Testimonials

Hear what some of our parents had to say about us – don’t take our word for it!

“I have trained with Sid since the age of 10 and cannot recall a single dull training session in all that time. Sid’s enthusiasm and technical expertise provides a unique coaching style unlike anything I have experienced anywhere else. Sid’s expectations are demanding: physically and mentally; and if I’m not in the correct frame of mind during a training session Sid has no hesitation in letting me know what is on his mind. He provides me continuous inspiration to work hard, strive for technical perfection and to also enjoy the game. This drives me to carry on improving in every session, and not to settle for second best.

One of the highlights of my training with Sid has been the four trips over the last two years to India. The technical skills I have learnt there, e.g. facing bowlers many years older than me, are unmatched by any other training sessions in the UK. The experience to face high quality bowling for sustained periods of time has instilled in me a mental stamina that is hard to learn anywhere else. The training setup in India is fantastic and the coaches and players are what make the trip so constructive, and I look forward to attending again.

Sid is unlike anyone else, not just as a coach, but also a mentor and a friend who has had the patience and belief to keep on pushing me beyond my limits to get the best out of me. I am lucky to have him as my coach and I hope to make him proud one day.”

“Sid Lahiri has been my son’s (Ahmed Khan) cricket coach since 2013 when he was an eight year old, at The Star Cricket Academy and now re-branded as The Rajasthan Royals Cricket Academy.

I got Ahmed enrolled at Sid’s academy based upon his reputation and his stance in the cricket coaching community.

We were not disappointed. Within the first few sessions Sid had sorted out the basics – batting grip and stance along with how to grip the ball for leg spin bowling.

Over the first year there was a marked improvement in Ahmed’s technique and general understanding of the game and he became a regular Surrey County Age Group player and often captains the side. Ahmed is now part of Surrey’s Elite Player Group.

Sid pushes his students hard but in a fun and enjoyable way. He is trustworthy and delivers on his promises and the coaching is delivered to suit the student’s ability. His level of coaching is of a high standard often using techniques not delivered by other coaches – for example how to play spin against the turning ball. His level of detail and the ability to spot minor flaws is second to none. His academy is fitted with ‘high tech’ equipment (for example Pitch Vision) which help students to maximise their ability.

There are other coaches closer to our home in South London but I don’t have any hesitation in travelling the longer distance to get the best.

My son now uses Sid not only as a coach but his mentor in all cricket related aspects and Sid has been working with him on the mental side of the game.

Sid has been instrumental in bringing through current professional players – Ollie Pope, Ryan Patel (Surrey players) and Phil Salt (Sussex) to name a few.

Our journey with Sid is far from complete. I look forward to him working with Ahmed over many years to come.”
